Dear All, This is an early warning of the next GCSS BL clouds group meeting. With many thanks to Phil Austin for offering to host us, this will be at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver from 8th - 12th June 2009 It will primarily be a joint meeting with CFMIP (the Cloud Feedback Model Intercomparison Project), so at least two days will focus on progress with the low cloud feedback model intercomparison case(s) and related work. The rest of the week will give us time to discuss our other on-going activities, etc. So, to summarise the list of topics we currently have to discuss at this meeting: 1) progress with the low cloud feedback model intercomparison case(s): Minghua has a draft case description that should be released soon 2) progress on further RICO work 3) progress on a possible stratocumulus to cumulus transition case 4) a summary of recent field experiments (VOCALS and POST spring to my mind) 5) a discussion (at the request of US CLIVAR) of whether the model development community could more effectively integrate the knowledge from recent boundary layer cloud field experiments into global/regional and LES models and parameterizations 6) an update on progress with the GPCI Plus, I would also hope we'd have time for some individual research presentations, as usual. More details will be released nearer the time. All the best for now, Adrian
